Shinomiya Yoshitoshi’s A New Dawn Movie Reveals First Trailer, Release Date

The official website of the upcoming drama anime movie A New Dawn has released the first trailer showcasing a 2025 release date in Japan.

Two cast members were announced in their voice-acting debut:

• Furukawa Kotone as Shikimori Kaoru
• Hagiwara Riku as Tatewaki Keitaro

A message from the cast members was also shared:

• Furukawa Kotone:
  “I was very happy to be invited to take part in this important work that Director Shinomiya has been developing for eight long years since it was conceived, and although it was my first time as a voice actor, I threw myself into the role. While recording my voice, I remembered the COVID-19 outbreak five years ago. At the time, I was saddened by the disappearance of traditional events, such as fireworks festivals across the country. But now, I think it was Japanese anime, which is at the forefront of modern culture, that supported my daily life. I think this work is a work of art that draws on the past to create something new, as Director Shinomiya, a former Japanese painter, depicts fireworks in animation. I am once again honoured to have been entrusted with a part in its creation.”
  

• Hagiwara Riku:
  “It was my first time working as a voice actor, and it was very refreshing. When I was recording alone at first, I couldn’t get a good response, so I was relying only on the director’s “OK”, but on the last day, I recorded a dialogue with Furukawa-san, and it felt completely different from when I was recording alone. It made me realize how much I usually rely on the people and environment around me to support my acting. When I first saw the script and the video storyboard, I thought, ‘This could be an amazing piece,’ so I hope you’ll look forward to it.”

“Those fireworks are a slice of the universe.”
The fireworks factory, Tatewaki Fireworks, located in a lush forest, is facing eviction due to the redevelopment of the town.
Tatewaki Keitarou has been holed up there for four years, immersed in making fireworks to complete the “Shuhari” fireworks, known as the phantom fireworks, in place of his father who disappeared.
Meanwhile, his childhood friend Kaoru, who lives in Tokyo,
has left her hometown after an incident in the past, but as the eviction date approaches, she visits the Tatewaki family.
The two meet again and devise a surprising plan to uncover the secret of the lost fireworks.
The key to this is the beautiful blue pigment “flower verdigris.”
