Neon Genesis Evangelion

Fifteen years after the catastrophic event known as the Second Impact, Tokyo-3 faces the threat of monstrous beings called Angels attacking one after the other. Despite using their most sophisticated weapons and military strategies, humanity cannot fend off these celestial invaders. The only hope for human survival lies with NERV, a secretive organization under the leadership of the stern Gendou Ikari. NERV’s response to the Angels involves deploying giant humanoid robots named “Evangelions,” equipped with cutting-edge weaponry and shields called Absolute Terror Fields.

Years after his father abandoned him, 14-year-old Shinji Ikari, son of Gendou, returns to Tokyo-3. Haunted by his mother’s death and the emotional neglect from his father, Shinji struggles with deep-seated trauma and the fear of forming new relationships. His life takes a significant turn when he meets Misato Katsuragi, a high-ranking NERV officer aged 29, who offers him a type of warm, carefree kindness he’s never known.

An intense Angel assault compels Shinji to step up after Gendou discloses the real reason for summoning his son back to Tokyo-3: Shinji is uniquely suited to pilot the new Evangelion Unit-01, a robot that aligns with his biometrics. Despite enduring severe psychological distress from piloting the Evangelion, Shinji fights to protect Tokyo-3 from the Angels, unaware of his father’s deeper, darker plans.
