Years ago, a devastating fire took the lives of Shirou’s family. He was then rescued and adopted by Kiritsugu Emiya, who taught him about magic and the importance of justice.
Fast forward to one evening, years after Kiritsugu has passed away, Shirou ends up in a dangerous situation while cleaning at school. He stumbles upon a fierce battle between two superhuman entities known as Servants. Trying to flee, Shirou is severely injured by one of the Servants, but somehow he survives this fatal wound. However, the Servant reappears to finish the job, forcing Shirou to summon his own Servant, a knight named Saber, to protect himself. This act draws him into the Fifth Holy Grail War, a fierce competition involving seven Servants and their summoning mages, all vying for the ultimate prize—the all-powerful Holy Grail.
“Fate/stay night” tracks Shirou’s journey as he navigates the thin line between being a hero and a murderer, his ideals constantly tested by the brutal realities he faces. Will Shirou emulate his adoptive father and become a hero, or will he perish in the process?
