Yukihira Souma has grown up cooking in the kitchen alongside his father, Jouichirou. Working as a sous chef in his dad’s restaurant, Souma has honed his cooking skills and enjoyed creating innovative dishes that wow their patrons. His dream is to someday surpass Jouichirou and run the family restaurant. However, his plans take an unexpected turn when he discovers Jouichirou is shutting down the restaurant to work in New York.
Instead of following his father, Souma enrolls at the elite Tootsuki Culinary Academy, a school notorious for its rigorous standards where only 10 percent of its students manage to graduate. The academy is also known for its “Shokugeki” or food wars, which are intense culinary battles that students engage in to resolve conflicts.
Jouichirou sets Souma a massive challenge: surpass him by thriving at Tootsuki and graduating after three years. Faced with a cutthroat curriculum and competitive peers, Souma must master the harsh realities of the academy to pursue his culinary dreams. The question remains, though—does Souma have what it takes to rise to the top on his skills alone?
