Death Note

The human world is rife with brutal killings, rampant theft, and random acts of violence, while the death gods’ domain remains a dull, static place for gambling. Light Yagami, a brilliant 17-year-old from Japan, and Ryuk, a twisted god of death, both view their respective worlds as corrupt.

Ryuk, seeking entertainment, lets his Death Note fall into the human realm. Light discovers it and scoffs at its first rule: anyone whose name is written in the notebook will die. Overcome by curiosity, Light tests it by jotting down a criminal’s name, which shockingly results in a real murder.

Realizing he now possesses a frightening power, Light adopts the pseudonym Kira and sets out on a mission to purge the world of criminals, driven by his distorted sense of justice. However, the genius detective L is hot on his heels. As Light and L are equally matched in intellect, their pursuit becomes a thrilling intellectual duel, which will only conclude with the death of one of them.
