Mages Inc.’s Memories Off Sousou: ~Not Always True~ Visual Novel Reveals New Character Videos

The official website of game developer and publisher Mages Inc.’s Memories Off Sousou: ~Not Always True~ visual novel has released self-introduction videos for 10 characters.

A short interview with nine of the cast members was also shared.

• Q1. What kind of impression did you receive regarding this work, Memories Off Sousou: ~Not always true~?
  “I was surprised at the many forms that feelings take. The delicate parts and the bold developments are exquisitely depicted, and as I read, I became increasingly curious about what would happen next. I believe you’ll be deeply moved by how the characters grow through various detours regarding their families and themselves!”

  “Itsuki is a kind but nosy character. So, while playing him, I thought he would get caught up in troublesome situations (laughs). Surprisingly, he can be somewhat oblivious when it comes to himself. Still, he is a straightforward boy who is not afraid to act for others.”

  “Having personally played Memories Off, and with this being the 25th-anniversary work of the Memories Off series, there was pressure, but there was much more joy and happiness in being able to be involved! Of course, the girls’ cuteness and beauty are shown, but this work also carefully depicts the delicacy and the deep parts of the human heart. And for those who have played the series until now, there is also content that will surprise you, so I would be happy if you look forward to it!”

  “Because there are both happy endings and bad endings, I was very excited while reading through the script, but all I can say is that I’ve never felt this emotion before… It’s amazing. It’s bold, or rather, very challenging. The contrast with the cute art style makes it feel like I might catch a cold (laughs).”

  “At first glance, she had a strong impression of being a cool beauty, but I also got a cute impression from things like her hair arrangement and the pins she wore. As for her personality, I think she’s a character with quite a bit of change. At first, she’s standoffish, and her coolness stands out, but her cuteness slowly appears as things progress. I think she’s a girl with a ‘self she only shows to the person she likes.’ However, I was conscious of not making her overall energy too high.”

  “I hope that the original Memories Off fans will once again enjoy this world that is unique to the series, and for newcomers, I’m very curious to see how they will feel when they reach the ending.   “I learned that a long time had passed since the birth of Memories Off and that the new work Sousou is the one that marks the conclusion. When I think about how so many people have loved it to have reached this point, my feelings for the recording became more passionate. I also felt that those feelings were packed into the script.”

  “At first, I thought she was such a cute girl! She is friendly, cute, and the ideal childhood friend. She calls the protagonist ‘Ik-kun’ and is determined to enjoy being the best of childhood friends! As for the parts that have changed, they’ve changed so much that I can’t talk about it yet ♡”

  “First of all, the Memories Off series is a work many have loved for a long time, so I was impressed. It’s a story that depicts not only romance but also human relationships and growth, making it something you can immerse yourself in. My impression is mainly based on reading Kazune’s part, and I felt that the straightness and earnestness of the character create a certain fragility, the frustration of not being able to convey things properly. I thought it was full of many elements!”

  “Girls with glasses… are the best…! At first, she gave the impression of being shy and weak, but as the scenes progressed, she tended to go straight ahead when it came to things she liked, to the point of being unable to see what was around her.

  “The latest instalment in the Memories Off series is being released in the Reiwa era…!!!? It’s not just about having fun falling in love with cute girls, but a story that sharply pierces the heart. I had heard that this is the charm of Memories Off, so I was excited to see what kind of developments the 9th instalment, released in the Reiwa era, would have. Everyone has circumstances you wouldn’t expect from high schoolers, and they mature through their love. It’s a wonderful story!”

  “A soccer scholarship student from Germany with short blonde hair and blue eyes, she was so sparkling that she was blinding. My first impression was that she was a cool and strong girl since even Kurauchi was smitten. But actually, she’s a girl of her age with a delicate side and many inner conflicts. She’s a very charming girl.”

  “I have known the title Memories Off for a long time, so I was really happy to be asked to participate this time. I also thought it was interesting that new stories are woven while the heroines from past works appear!”

  “My first impression of Setsuka was that she was a strong-willed girl who didn’t let others get close. As her relationship with Itsuki deepened, more of her cute sides started to come out, so I thought I would gradually adjust to a more natural performance that would fit their changing dynamic. Also, she is a girl who can honestly and directly face the places and people she wants to protect. While performing, I made sure to consciously convey her straightforward nature.”

  “Even though it’s a romance adventure game, I think it’s a compelling work that somehow feels realistic in every depiction. I got the impression that it constantly asks how much you care about someone and how determined you are to be with them.”

  “At first, based on the character setting of ‘the careless yet handsome guy,’ I had the impression that he was the mood maker of the group. Even after multiple recording sessions, that impression didn’t change much, but in addition to that, I also found him to be someone with a strong sense of loyalty. His trust in the other characters is evident in his lines. His kindness often gets him involved in trouble… or maybe not!? I hope you’ll play and see for yourself! While performing, I also projected my own ideal onto him, imagining how nice it would be to have someone like him by my side!”

  “It might be a bit different from the impression of the work, but when I saw it’s the 25th Anniversary of the series, I thought, ‘Has it really been that long…?’ and I was deeply moved. Memories Off = my career, so it’s my 25th anniversary, too.”

  “I’ve been playing the role for 25 years, so it feels a little late to say this now, but I’ve been by his side much longer than even my no-good friends, so I think, ‘You’ve grown up…’ I think he’s more reliable than me, though (laughs).”

  “I never imagined that, after more than twenty years, I would once again be able to portray Tsubame-sensei. I am very happy that the series continues and that many fans support each work. The new Memories Off is also a story of youth, love, and finding oneself, making you feel those ‘kyun’ moments.”

  “She’s turned out normal…! When it comes to Tsubame-sensei, she made a strong impact with her mysterious actions and shocking last moments, leaving a traumatic, I mean, a strong impression on many players. But I never imagined she would turn out to be such a proper, good mother. She did really well, given her upbringing. With every line said, I was deeply moved, thinking, ‘Ohhhh, she’s a mother, a teacher, a proper adult!’ Tsubame-sensei is not a romantic interest this time, but I want her to watch over everyone from the background.”

About Memories Off Sousou: ~Not Always True~:
Kusumegi Itsuki, a second-year student at Keiyo University-affiliated Fujikawa High School, has a fiancée whose face and name he does not know. Because of this fiancée’s existence, Ichiki has never been interested in romance.
He will be informed of his fiancée’s identity on his 17th birthday, which is about a month away.
It’s autumn, and little by little, changes are coming to Itsuki’s peaceful high school life.
