Witch Watch Release Date Announced

The official website of the supernatural comedy anime Witch Watch has released the first promotional video showcasing an April 2025 release date.

Four new cast members were announced:

• Komatsu Mikako as Makuwa Yuri
• Takahashi Rie as Minami Kara
• Kohara Konomi as Ureshino Kukumi
• Matsuoka Yoshitsugu as Kiyomiya Tenryu

Komatsu Mikako (Voice of Makuwa Yuri):

• Q1. Could you tell us what is so appealing about this work?
  • “First of all, the resolution of otaku is extremely high! Even though otaku are generally referred to as such, there are many different fields and genres, but the amount of information that is delved into is…impressive. Personally, I was very moved when I found out the meaning of the title ‘Witch Watch’!”
• Q2. Could you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing Makuwa Yuri?
  • “When she starts talking (in her mind), she can’t stop, so she’s very fluent. I think that the key to fluency is how excited you are, your voice, and how well you can speak. The voice in her mind and the voice that comes out on the surface switch at a very good tempo, so she’s very fluent. Her dialogue with Ureshino-san is very fluent.”

Takahashi Rie (Voice of Minami Kara):

• Q1. Could you tell us what is so appealing about this work?
  • “The conversations are snappy, but somehow there’s something strange about them. But before you know it, they’re sometimes really cool and heartwarming. The characters are funny, lovable, and full of energy. It’s hard to put into words, but I feel this work is full of charm in every frame.”
• Q2. Could you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing Minami Kara?
  • “I grew up laughing at Shinohara-sensei’s works, so I’m very honored to be able to play such a fun character as Kara-chan this time! During the dubbing, I threw myself into the director’s fun direction with all my might every time. In the original work, Kara-chan is bright and cheerful, but by moving and talking, I hope to make her even more intense and liven up the atmosphere around Nico!”

Kohara Konomi (Voice of Ureshino Kukumi):

• Q1. Could you tell us what is so appealing about this work?
  • “The appeal of this work is that there are no normal people! I think so (laughs). The original work is wonderful, so the dubbing is lively and I laugh out loud every time. Not only the main characters, but each one has a unique name and personality, so you can feel the love of the writer, and viewers will feel happy♫”
• Q2. Could you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing Ureshino Kukumi?
  • “At first glance, she seems like a quiet and calm girl… but she also has a different side, so I was looking forward to playing her and was very nervous (laughs). When I played her, I felt Kukumi’s human side and I felt more affection for her. I wonder how it will turn out on air? I’m really looking forward to it♫”

Matsuoka Yoshitsugu (Voice of Kiyomiya Tenryu):

• Q1. Could you tell us what is so appealing about this work?
  • “It’s a real talent that there isn’t a single boring character (laughs). Even when you dig deep into each character, it’s still so funny, and I laughed out loud at home for the first time in a while, which refreshed my soul. It’s not just gags but also subtle depictions of love, and the pace is just right.”
• Q2. Could you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing Kiyomiya Tenryu?
  • “It’s a role that I can play naturally, so even if the president is a strange person, it feels normal? I tried to make it seem normal, like, ‘Is this normal for the student council in this world…?’ But he has a lot of hardships… so please be kind to him.”
