New character visuals and cast members have also been announced:

Kaji Yuuki as Kageyama
Miyano Mamoru as Kazamatsuri Kyouichirou

An interview with the cast has also been released.
Hanazawa Kana (Houshou Reiko):
- Q: What’s the appeal of The Dinner Table Detective?
- “I think it goes without saying that the story is enjoyable and the characters are well-rounded, with a pop twist on solving mysteries… but I think the appeal of this anime is in the dialogue between the characters, which is captivating with their ever-changing expressions and dynamic actions! In particular, Reiko and Inspector Kazamatsuri are on the move almost excessively (laughs). The dialogue is intense to match that, so please look forward to it!”
- Q: What drew you to the role of Reiko?
- “Reiko has a wide range of expressions, and whether she is acting as a rich lady or working as a police officer in a suit, she is very cute in both scenes and is enjoyable to watch, so I hope to be able to bring out her many charming sides in the play, such as being a little absent-minded, not being honest, and having reactions that are not typical of a rich lady.”
- Q: What’s it like working with the rest of the cast?
- “The fun parts of the role are when she’s with Inspector Kazamatsuri, when she’s making comments, complaining, and getting a little rude, and when she gets angry when she realizes that Kageyama has made fun of her! Also, it’s always fun to do the dubbing surrounded by all the wonderful co-stars, and the exchanges are always fun. Each character is high in calories, so we’re all exhausted after we’ve finished (laughs).”
Kaji Yuuki (Kageyama):
- Q: What makes The Dinner Table Detective unique?
- “I feel that it is a very unique mystery work that unfolds in a new yet somewhat nostalgic style. The contrast between the depth of the three main characters and the realistic atmosphere of the guests in each episode is exquisite! The drama progresses at a very pleasant pace. I hope you will enjoy the unique exchanges between Reiko and Kageyama, and Reiko and Kazamatsuri.”
- Q: What was your approach to playing Kageyama?
- “During the audition, I thoroughly searched for the butler-like and sharp tongue qualities within myself. When I was informed that I had passed, I was so happy that I could feel my heart beating hard. …But now that recording has started, I’m struggling with the difficulty of the role (laughs). Kageyama is someone who doesn’t let you grab his tail. After all, he’s the kind of guy that Higashikawa-sensei said ‘I don’t really know either’ during the recording of the first episode! (laughs). So, although there is no right answer anywhere…I want to keep struggling until the very end so that I will be able to embody the image that the director and the staff have in mind. …I’ll do my best to avoid getting lost in the labyrinth myself (laughs).”
- Q: What’s the atmosphere like on set?
- “Dubbing is super fun! It’s hard to hold back laughter every week at Miyano’s acting as Inspector Kazamatsuri. And in my heart, I quietly fight a life-or-death battle with the frustration of ‘I really want to go crazy like that too!’ (laughs).”
Miyano Mamoru (Kazamatsuri Kyouichirou):
- Q: What excited you about this project?
- “I was very excited to hear that the masterpiece ‘After Dinner Mysteries’ has finally been made into an anime. The animation has a good tempo and is full of comical expressions, so I think that everyone who watches it will be able to enjoy many new charms.”
- Q: What’s your impression of Kazamatsuri Kyouichirou?
- “Kazamatsuri Kyouichirou is a police inspector at the Kunitachi Police Station with a strong sense of justice… but is he a little too self-promoting? He’s very assertive, has strong reactions, and brags a lot. He makes cases too complicated by rushing the investigation… In one word, he’s a ‘troublesome’ person (laughs). But he’s also lovable, so it’s hard to hate him!”
- Q: What’s the atmosphere like on set?
- “He’s smart, but he also has a lot of cool and comical reactions, so I’m working hard at the maximum level of excitement during the dubbing (laughs). Sometimes I’m the only one in the studio and I’m drenched in sweat (laughs). However, I can see that the cast and staff are happy, so I feel at ease (laughs). So, the atmosphere on set is really good, so I’m sure that the atmosphere will be conveyed to everyone who watches the work, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, so please look forward to it!”
About The Dinner Table Detective:
A rookie detective at Kunitachi Police Station, Houshou Reiko, is the daughter of the world-famous “Houshou Group.” She is currently working hard on a number of cases under the supervision of Inspector Kazamatsuri, the heir to “Kazamatsuri Motors.”
Whenever Reiko returns to her grand mansion, she changes from her modest pantsuit into a dress and enjoys dinner. But whenever she comes across a difficult case, she consults with her “butler/chauffeur” Kageyama about the whole story.
