The merch gets you more followers & commissions
Our company, YK May Corporation Trading, has been selling anime merchandise for over 20 years worldwide.
With WeeBe, we are now offering our experience & expertise to Vtuber brands as we delve into the world of manufacturing ourselves.
As we believe that every brand who works with us should have their merch feature art that fits their style, personality and preferences – we decided to build a network that is focused on just that:
Offering brands a platform to get art for commercial purposes in commercial standards.
*In most of the products we were the manufacturer and not the commissioner, so we don’t know the artists. If you’re the artist, reach to us and we’ll gladly credit you.
We tried to cover the sort of things we assumed you’d want to know.
If you still have any questions after this, just contact us on one of our socials and we’ll add it here too.
No, joining WeeBe’s artist platform is completely free for all artists and illustrators.
Not really. As long as your art is your own, we’re all for giving artists an equal chance to work on merchandise.
We do need to see your portfolio before we decide to commission you ourselves though – so it’s best to get working on that early.
We will let you publish your portfolio & services even if your public terms are different from what we’re looking to work with ourselves
The one thing we emphasize is that your pricing should include commercial use rights, including merchandise.
Additionally, delivery time needs to be accurate, as the brands looking to work with you often need it for specific time-gated projects, so missing those deadlines can make everyone’s hard work go in vain.Â
Communication is important. If you find yourself likely to be unable to meet deadlines, informing your client in time will protect both your reputation and their needs.
You can also specify that discounts are given if commissioned ‘for private use only’, but we will not be a part of those transactions and can’t uphold those rights on your behalf.
This one got pretty long, so we made it into a popup.
The TL;DR version is:
We don’t allow the use of generative AI as a final product, nor can we accept creations that were made by tracing other artists’ work. Even using real-life references, please avoid infringing on designs of well-known brands (especially in apparel design).
If we discover that your work wasn’t your own – we can’t use it ourselves – and so we’ll have to freeze your balance and any payouts will be stopped.
Additionally, we request that if works are marked as private by the illustrated brand – you do not publish them elsewhere until the agreed deadline. This often has to do with lore, birthday and other sorts of surprises that are best kept secret.
You are allowed
We also retain the right, in our own discretion, to stop working with, take down the profile of, and stop crediting any artist who publicly or privately expresses offensive, harmful and/or political agenda. Of course we’ll pay whatever balance is left in this case.
When one of our partner brands wants us to commission you, we’ll first contact you privately to make sure that you’re available and that your terms are up to date.
Afterwards, we will open a group conversation with you, our partner brand, and one of our team.
Once you deliver the work as requested, you get balance to your account.
You can decide to withdraw it in a timing that suits you, but we prefer to payout early so we may askÂ
If someone reaches out to you for a private commission through WeeBe, you keep 100% of your earnings.
We primarily work with VTuber brands and other anime-related content creators who are looking for artwork for their merchandise, such as keychains, prints, plush designs, and more.
We’ll match you with brands that align with your style, and typically commission you with a certain product type in mind.
If you are commissioned by us and we are a part of the chat, you will be paid directly by our company, YK May Corporation Trading, a Japanese yūgen gaisha in good standing that has been founded over 30 years ago.
You can rest assured that you will be paid on time and in the terms agreed upon.
If a Vtuber / Brand / anyone else contacts you privately for a commission – we do not hold responsibility and both sides should choose terms they agree upon as you would when being commissioned on social media.
However, ghosting or breach of agreements will negatively affect your profile, and we may remove your account or put a public warning.
Similarly, if a client delays payment or stops responding for a prolonged time, please let us know. At the very least, we can prevent them from commissioning others on our platform before they settled the bill with you.
One main difference is that our platform’s main customer that we had in mind is ourselves.
We didn’t like doing the guesswork of whether gigs and commissions by artists included the commercial-use fee, and we also found it difficult to quickly find artists that will match a specific artstyle.
So we figured that we might as well host our own platform to let everyone benefit from it.
We included some social features to let fans of your art & of the brands you work with get exposed to your art, like being able to follow you and see new things you post.
We’ll be adding some features from time to time and try to be attentive to both our brand & artist partner’s needs, and build on those depending on how well they’re received.
Please go ahead and showcase your work on whichever platforms you like and offer you good terms. Just try to manage your commission schedules well across platforms.
You will be credited on:
1. The creation page – where the work you’ve done is publicly featured on its own next to your name and the brand it features, and also link to products that were made with it.
2. The product page – every product that uses your art will feature a link to your profile right below the image, in prime location.
3. The final product’s packaging –Â all of our products are packaged, including posters. You’ll usually be credited on the same side as the barcode, (which is also where our own company’s details appear), as ‘illustrated by’ + your display name at the time of the commission. If you change your online handle before we go into production, do contact us and we might be able to update it on time.
Yes you can. However, this wouldn’t be under the artist program’s terms, but as a partner brand.
For that we require all of the artwork that gets turned into merch to feature your original characters only, as our platform mainly focuses on the IP holders.
Additionally, since we do invest time & effort into every one of our partner brands, the screening for partners does require some notable standing & reputation.
Sign up now and we’ll set up an account for you as soon as we’re done reviewing initial applications & refining our system, expected to launch November 2024.
We may contact you beforehand for other work.
WeeBe aims to provide VTubers, Anitubers, and Weebfluencers with opportunities to offer their own merchandise, while also benefitting from promoting products of their favorite anime, manga, and games.
As both a manufacturer and online anime store, we make it easy for creators to have their merch featured alongside top brands, with options for affiliate partnerships too.

As a business that relies heavily on artwork, our terms are meant to protect the interests of ourselves and our clients on one hand, but are also meant to be fair to our artist partners since we do want to maintain a good reputation.
Overall, we can be flexible when necessary, but these are the main factors that will make it easy for us to choose to work with you:
Time: We’d often find ourselves wanting to get merch up for sale as soon as possible, and this largely depends on how quickly we can get the artwork. Being able to offer quick delivery dates without compromising quality makes it easy for us to choose to work with you.
If we start a commission together and you can’t deliver it on time, we’ll be likely to have to cancel it – but it’s better to let us know ahead of time.
Communication: The purpose of our staff member joining the communication is to bridge any misunderstandings, by making sure that our partner’s brand guidelines are being followed, and that you are getting instructions that are clear enough for an artist to follow (no more vague descriptions). As such, we expect the instructions to be followed, and questions to be asked if anything (really, anything) is unclear.
Revisions: In case something still doesn’t come across perfectly in the communication, we do expect to have it fixed to match our vision. However, we won’t change the concept after you already started, as that would be unfair to you.
If we feel like a change of concept is need, we might ask to book a subsequent slot in your schedule, and depending urgency may ask to prioritize the second one, but you will be paid for both.
References: We like to give a lot of references to save all parties involved the time and guesswork. If we don’t have perfect references, we generate them using AI to better explain what we’re looking for at the concept stage only.
While we absolutely don’t accept it as the final work, and expect the created work to be significantly different from the reference (you can’t just trace an AI generation and call it your own), being open to working with AI references can make it easier for us, but this isn’t a requirement.
Price: This one is a bit of a given, but we’re looking to get the most out of our budget.
You can choose to offer us a lower price for your services which won’t be publicly visible. In many cases the artist choice will be made by our partner brand so it’s certainly not the only factor, but it would certainly allow us to send more work your way.
Lastly, we do expect you to respect your terms and update them if you increase your fees before we reach out to you, as transparency & honesty is key for cooperation.
Thanks for reading this!
