Nyaight of the Living Cat New Trailer, Cast Members Revealed

The official website of the anime adaptation of Hawkman’s Nyaight of the Living Cat manga series has released the second teaser promotional video, showcasing a July 2025 release date.

The site also announced eight new cast members and shared their messages and characters’ visuals.

• Mizunaka Masaaki:
  • “The atmosphere, reactions, and love for cats that Kunagi has.
    I love everything about it,
    and I thought I’d be so happy if I could play this role. So, I was filled with joy when I was chosen for the role.
    Cats are gods.
    This is a story about people living their lives during a ‘Nyandemic’ with utmost love and respect for cats.

  • “For now, I’ll be chased around by about 100 cats,
    and when the cat jumps at me,
    I’ll spread my arms wide and hug it, becoming a happy cat while holding it, yes.”

• Ueda Reina:
  • “I was very happy when I received the news that I had been chosen for the role of Kaoru.
    
    All the residents of this work are kind to the cats,
    love the cats endlessly,
    and therefore live each day in agony.
    Through this work, I hope that human love for cats and the love for our own cats
    reaches all the cats!”
• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “I will bravely become a cat.
    I’d be happy if I could talk with my cats
    and live together with them…”

• Kawashima Reiji:
  • “For me,
    whose main job is posting photos of my cats, Ame and Rin, on X,
    this was a work I just… just had to get into…!!
    I’m so happy.
    
    The work Nyaight is!!! Synonymous with ‘cat sniffing’!!!”
• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “If it means I won’t be able to touch my Ame and Rin!!
    Then I’ll become a cat toooooo!!!!!
    Let’s groom each other together, yeahhhhhh!!!!?”

• Serizawa Yuu:
  • “When I had the chance to meet Director Miike in person at the studio audition and receive direction from him,
    it was so much fun that I strongly felt, ‘I’d love to work together! I really want to do this!!’ So when I was cast as Tsutsumi,
    I felt like my feelings and love for cats reached both the director and the cat gods…!!
    
    Every character in this work is a cat lover.
    It’s thrilling and heart-pounding, yet soothing at the same time.
    Please look forward to it!”
• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “I’d actually want to become a cat myself!!!!!
    If possible, I’d love for my own cats to turn me into one!!!
    And then, I want the three of us to live happily together.
    I’d like to taste crunchy Churu
    and eat lots of my favourite fish together with my cats!”

• Kimura Subaru:
  • “As a cat lover, from the moment I heard about the setting,
    I thought, ‘I absolutely want to do this!’
    I was able to get into character in just two seconds.
    
    The characters are very serious, so please try not to laugh while watching.”
• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “Becoming a cat doesn’t sound too bad, does it?
    I’d like to experience what a poop high feels like.”

• Nakajima Yoshiki:
  • “I’m Nakajima Yoshiki, and I will be voicing Masaki.
    It is an incredible honour to be part of this project as someone who lives with cats!
    I’m glad I wore a cat t-shirt to the audition!
    Every person has probably wished, at least once, to live like a cat, carefree and relaxed. Haven’t you?
    In a way, this is a dream come true.
    Let’s dive together into the fleeting and profound world of Nyaight of the Living Cat.

• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “I might be grateful for becoming a cat.
    I’ve answered questions like, ‘If I could understand a cat’s language…’
    but now I can actually become one.
    I would like to have a conversation with my cat at home.
    I want to know what they think, and if they have any complaints, I’d like to resolve them.
    Though, by then, I’ll already be a cat myself.”

• Yasumoto Hiroki:
  • “I’m happy to be involved in this work,
    where cat lovers suffer because of their love in this mysterious world.
    Originally, my family’s house was like an animal house,
    so I hope I can make good use of my experiences there, haha.”
• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “I probably can’t resist.
    So, I’ll honestly become a cat, grab a fish in my mouth,
    and become a stray cat chased by a wife with a unique hairstyle.”

• Takeuchi Ryouta:
  • “When I was chosen for the role of Gaku,
    I was so happy that I immediately reported it to my cats, haha.
    
    While reading the original work, how many times did I nod and think, ‘I get it, I get it…’ I want to love them… I want to pet them… The human’s loving struggles and the cats’ cuteness, please, enjoy… no, tremble in fear!”
• Q. What would you do if a “Nyandemic” occurred?
  • “I want to keep running away as much as I can!!
    I want to keep watching cats from a distance, even if it’s just from afar.
    And then I imagine… myself loving the cats… myself petting them.
    Ah, I better build up my stamina while I can…”

About Nyaight of the Living Cat:
In the year 20XX, the world was overrun by cats. A virus that turns humans into cats when they touch a cat triggered a worldwide “Nyandemic.” People are being “mofu’d” by cats and gradually transform into them. Can humanity resist the temptation to touch cats and survive in a world full of them?
